BUSY BOOK FOR TODDLERS
Kids are naturally energetic and curious. Playing is a way for them to explore, move, and discover new things. While Learning through Play is best, still we need to take some time off and do sit-down learning to introduce the idea of a classroom set-up.
There are plenty of ways to teach kids new concepts. You can use songs, dancing, movements, flash cards, books, toys, worksheets and more. The outcome of how they will absorb the new information depends on their involvement and participation in the lesson. An idea that we as adults have to keep in mind to factor in fun, taking turns and veer away from the usual. Given that we are dealing with kids, we have to be vibrant, engaging and really creative!

BUSY BOOK FREE PRINTABLE
Based from experience, the approach to teaching comes with the kid’s age. The method and tools to use varies on what they can handle as their stage of development. Toddlers are very fond of music and colors – may be the reason that videos caught their attention fast. But we need not rely on these fast-pace clips for a long time because it affects our child’s brain to function in a must-have now, can’t wait manner! I say limit screen time and let them be bored.
You don’t need to always come up with ideas on how to entertain them. Give your kid the opportunity to slow down, be bored and let their creativity run and see what they will do next? They will grab and start a story with their toys, draw a zoo, sing songs, dance their own steps, jump, jump and run! Oh, the things they can imagine!
I think it’s necessary to let kids get bored once in a while – that’s how they learn to be creative.

And now that they get to explore, It’s time to learn. There’s a time for everything. A time to play, sleep, eat and learn. We have to let learning be a part of their routine so as to get them ready for preschool. There’s no rush to memorize and know it all. But recognition is a great start.
For this post, My Learning Pages will be sharing a free Toddler Busy Book where kids can apply their learning of the basic concepts such as Alphabet, Numbers 1-20, Shapes, Colors and Line Tracing. All in one book! But of course, no pressure to finish them all in one sitting. We have to help them cut and paste, help with the instructions and simply enjoy spending time together while doing the toddler activities.

We advice that once printed is to store it in a binder or laminate for durability and reuse. Kids see and touch – that’s how they explore and learn. So we should keep in mind to make the charts kid-proof in a way.

Please note that as parents and educators, It is our job to cultivate kids for learning. Each of us has a different approach and ways in teaching – just like a kid who has their own abilities, interest and learning curve. Patience and consistency is key. They may not fully understand the concept at first but with enough exposure, fun activities and practice. Soon, they will surprise you that they already know it!
